Ferroic Materials: Challenges and opportunities

The Frontier Institute of Science and Techology (FIST), Xi’an Jiaotong University, Nature Communications, Nature Reviews Materials, and Nature Nanotechnologyare pleased to present:

Ferroic Materials: Challenges and opportunities

October 25-27, 2017
Paradise Resort, Xi’an, China

A wealth of intriguing properties has made ferroelectric, ferromagnetic and ferroelastic materials the object of a fertile research activity. In fact, not only have these materials a pivotal relevance for condensed matter physics and materials science, but they also unveil the potential for a wide range of novel smart technologies. This conference is aimed at bringing together leading international scientists to explore recent emerging themes in the research on ferroic materials both from a fundamental and an application-oriented perspective. Ample space will be left to foster interdisciplinary exchange of ideas between members of the communities working on the three classes of ferroic materials. The discussed topics will range from the conceptual advances in the understanding of the physical mechanisms underlying the properties of these materials, to the challenges related to their engineering, and to their potential applications.
